Dearest Wakin,
Thank you for playing Yesterday for us at the Genting Mother's Day concert. I'd always wanted to hear you sing it live with your guitar. You've got better! About 15 years ago, I was watching a Singapore TV program. I saw a singer holding a guitar, strumming a song casually. At that moment I was totally captivated by this Asian singer singing my favourite Beatles song effortlessly yet impressively. The song was Yesterday and the singer was Emil Chau. I was thinking "Wow, a Chinese 'McCartney'!! Who could make Yesterday sound so nice, he must be a great singer!"
Not long after, I started to listen to Chinese songs. I heard the famous hit Ai Xiang Sui and totally fell in love with it. Ever since then, there were no looking back for me. Never did I expect one day that I get to know you in person. It was surreal and thrilling at first but now I could really feel the real warm Wakin.
To have a collection of good albums from Wakin - a treasure. To get to see Wakin in person - a thrill! To share memories together with Wakin - PRICELESS.
Thank you for letting us know you better and for all the great memories all these years.
Yours sincerely,
Shereen K.
P/S: You sang "Ibu" very well! Quite accurate pronunciation. Can easily pass off as a "Datuk" lah!
